My weekly shopping list

For the last four years we've had a weekly delivery from Sainsbury's and it has transformed what I eat. Pre-2020 when I was working in an office every day, I'd pop into a supermarket on my way home to buy food for that night. As I was usually tired when I was choosing what to eat, I would invariably go for something quick and easy, like pasta.

Now that my cupboards are (almost) always well-stocked, I know I have quick and easy things I can lean on when I'm tired which are slightly more nutritious. For example, I'll often have tinned fish, pre-cooked lentils/quinoa/beans, olives, feta and whatever veg is in the fridge when I need a quick lunch, or half a red pepper and hummus when I want a snack.

I encourage all of my clients to do a weekly shop so that they have satisfying, tasty options close to hand, and I encourage you to do the same!

For full transparency, our shop usually comes to about £90 a week for two people, with roughly 70% of what we buy being organic. As we both work from home quite a lot, this covers about 32 meals over the week.

I also like to go to local bakeries for fresh sourdough and I bring back meat from Devon when I go to visit my parents. We have sheep so I'll buy half a lamb from my parents and keep that in the freezer, and I love buying goat sausages from a farmer at our local farmers' market and freezing them too. I also have a subscription to Sea Sisters so I get 4 tasty tins of fish a month from them.

Happy shopping!
